I'm making a trip over to STT from STX and want to take my rental to STJ for the day. Who has the best car ferry? I know there's Boyson and Love City Car Ferry? Are there any differences in the vessels they use? Which one has more room to step outside my car and take a breath of fresh air?

Just take whichever one suits you where timing is concerned. Good hint is to buy a one way ticket rather than a round-trip as the ferry operators don't honor each other's tickets and if you're in a pinch for time (or if one of the ferries goes down as, in fact, has happened today) you won't be stuck waiting for "your" ferry to appear.

Yes what OldTart wrote - just pull up and get on the next one leaving and buy a one way.

Yes, as others have said -- you'll save a few bucks buying a round-trip ticket, but inconvenience may be a factor.

Which car ferry is the best? The one that has a boat running when you want to leave!!

I prefer Global Marine and Love City's ferries as well as getting the roundtrip ticket.
see for ferry itinerary on the below link. Just get there 15- 20 min. prior to departure time and relax.

Love City, either the Capt Vic or the Roanoke...the Roanoke is the last ferry out of St John at 7pm. We always do a round trip with them so we know we can have the WHOLE day on St John.
