Why so many Jobs opne on St.Croix????

I've been hearing for over a year how depressed the economy is on St.Croix and yet post after post recently is either about folks whose company may or has or will be sending them to St.Croix - or that someone is moving there.

Why? I surely don't see a great many posts about folks whose companies or job opportunities abound on St.Thomas.

Any clues here?

I think it's largely coincidence, but who knows. I see in today's Avis that unemployment on STT and STJ went up from 6.9% to 7.1% from April to May, while it went down on STX from 10.5% to 10.3%. Small changes, but still changes. STX has been more affected by the recent recession, so it stands to reason that as the economy comes out of it, STX would see more movement.

I'm looking again at The Avis and see that STX is doing better for the year and for the month of May than STT and STJ in terms of increases in the number of air travelers and hotel occupancy rates. American Eagle is flying in bigger planes to STX, Caribbean Sun has started a new route out of Puerto Rico, and a biweekly charter flight from Denmark started in March. During the first five months this year, occupancy is up only 0.2% for STT and STJ but 6.9% for STX. I've only been here a little over a month, so I'm not sure what to make of this. Maybe these things come and go.
