it's time for me to replace windows and exterior doors, does anyone have any advice, centerline here on st croix, home depot on stt or puerto rico or miami, i realize the last 3 involve shipping costs, so has anyone had anything shipped from the last 3 locations and are the costs worth it or should i just go with centerline? Thanks

What I found odd was Home Depot on STT wouldn't special order here. I'm guessing if you want anything special you'll have to get it from Miami or San Juan. I'll be interested in answers you get.

I have not used Centerline personally, but know people who have. They may not be the cheapest, but they are customized to fit your windows and doors. They are supposed to have an excellent product and worth the time and expense. Good luck with whatever you choose. Upgrading windows and doors is always an excellent investment.

Kokomo's changed hands in 05 or 06 - the new owner did some good work for us - I would certainly recommend getting an estimate from them.

Try White Cliffs. 773-0521. We just had a sliding glass door installed and couldn't be happier with the quality of the door and the quality of the installation. Ask for Dan to complete your install. He's a perfectionist.

Centerline is OK. Getting something ordered is a bit of a process. The doors and windows they made for me were OK other than a few scratches.

Also check with Jet Construction. He has four sources for doors and windows in Puerto Rico. Jet says they can get windows cheaper than Home Depot by eliminating the middle man.

getting Centerline to even set up an appointment is a lesson in frustration. As I type this message I am sitting in a condo while the Centerline guys work on installing new rollers and locks and some other refurbishment pieces on 6 panels of sliding glass doors. This work was requested back in December of 2006 and they finally came today to do it. I guess they are in extremely high demand not to be able to act on customer requests sooner than with a three month delay. Their scheduler also admitted that their installers were on vacation most of January despite all the time off in December for the holidays. I had to find someone else for emergency work because they won't respond that quickly no matter what the situation might be. I will report later on what their bill comes to for this job.

I have another landlord who personally ordered two small windows back in September and they still haven't been delivered and installed. If you want your work done prior to 2008, you might need to get a request in ASAP!

If anyone has had better luck with another door company on STX, I'd LOVE to hear about them.
