Hi! We just got the news this morning that we need to be in STT in 2 weeks! So excited! We have a VERY small amount of money for a place to live. Basically, we need something furnished that will allow us to walk in with our suitcases and our cat. It can be temporary until we earn enough for deposits and such. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated! See you in 2 weeks!! PS: pm me for my definition of VERY.

Congratulations on the job! You might have to go with a long-term hotel if you don't have the first month's rent and deposit (and often the last month's rent is required as well). You might also consider leaving your cat with a friend until you've sorted out where you're going to live. I'm not on that particular island, but I can imagine the difficulty in finding a hotel that accepts cats. Hope the move goes smoothly for you!

Try Villa Fairview. But leave the cat at home until you are settled. I don't believe any temp living place will allow you to have a cat.

I'm thinking we don't have many pet owners here. Before you leave your cat at home, call and speak to the managers or owners of the places you are considering staying at. I was surprised at how many people said yes to me when I came with 3 dogs. But I've always been a bit tenacious and my dogs are my babies. So be polite but keep going up the chain. Tell them you'll kennel your pet when your not in the room, offer a pet deposit, etc.

Because if you leave your cat behind someone is going to have to fly back and get her and then you will have the expense of a round trip ticket.

Thanks for the suggestions! She's already booked on a flight with me. She's my baby and I can't leave her. She's got a carrier and I'll just call some places to see what I can work out. I know niceness goes a long way! Any suggestions on some short term places in or near Red Hook?

I would suggest calling Ronnie: http://www.crystalpalaceusvi.com/ He has short term rooms in town, but he is also the man-in-the-know about B & Bs etc. There is one place here on the east end that advertises rooms for rent, but I can't believe they are zoned for what they are doing so I am not going to even mention them. 😛
