Hi everyone, my name is Rachel and I am 24 years old, born n raised in Boston and currently living in Florida. I want more than anything to get a job and move to the USVI. Can anyone help me out with making my goal a reality? I graudated in May of '06 with a bachelors degree in food service management. I have 2.5 years proffesional food service mgnt experience, and am currently working for a marketing company. I would really like to get a management roll in a hotel or restaurant on the island. There must be a way I can make this a reality... please help!!!!!

Welcome to the board, Rachel.

Searching this forum will answer many if not most of your questions. There are many such threads, including the wisdom of a "PMV" (pre-move visit), difficulties securing a job before you actually move, how much money you need in reserves to keep you afloat for the first several months, whether to bring your car or buy one here, etc.

Also, if you haven't done so already, read all of the sections of this site under the headings at the top of the page.

You might contact a Ritz-Carlton, Marriot,Hyatt or Wyndham hotel in your area and get an interview with their Human Resource Dept. since these 3 chains have locations here in STT and STJ. They may be able to give you a contact here and assess your likelihood of finding work in their organization.
A pre-move visit is worth the expense then and can give you a face to face at the local level.

You will not be able to secure a job until you are face to face with the hiring authority. Too many people say they are coming and don't.
