also wondering why hillary or obama have not spoken out against the riots. or have they and i just didnt see it on the news

I'm bothered by this, too. But I can speculate that it's because these protests aren't because Clinton lost, but because trump won. You wouldn't be seeing this reaction had any other Republican candidate won. Nobody went wild in the streets when George W got re-elected. Nobody's upset that the other party won. They're angry and fearful because trump, running on a non-inclusive platform and minority attack rhetoric, won.

Clinton, Obama and Sanders all denounced the violence at the trump rallies. Sanders denounced the current violence. So we know where they stand. I don't think anything they say will calm things down, and they know that. Only trump's actions and words, and the passage of time, will stop this. I'm counting on the passage of time, because so far, trump's actions and words aren't really doing it.

For someone so quick to point out logical fallacies when they serve your purpose, you don't seem to have a problem using them yourself

The struggle is real, feel free to point them out if I'm using them; we are basically contextually trained to use them from birth via TV and common conversation.

And I only did so here to let you know you missed my position completely, in the haste to further your own agenda. That, and to let you know that "passive aggressive" doesn't mean what you think it means.

haha, what agenda?

You gotta admit that was a pretty hilarious response, with the "not keeping score" bit tossed in there while you loaded evidence for only one side of an issue... no?

how about "illegal immigrant" attack rhetoric?

Seriously, why twist this around like that?

Only trump's actions and words, and the passage of time, will stop this. I'm counting on the passage of time, because so far, trump's actions and words aren't really doing it.

what actions and words have you seen?

This is EXACTLY what I want to hear from a president:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDEV3vo9TbY

I think mostly the media is to blame for what is going on, definitely the DNC et al for not making more of an effort to condemn it.

Since I have no idea where you got these ideas on Trump & I've been semi paying attention to this election... clearly there is some media spin out there that is not very factual.

It all stems from the BLM movement which was founded on incorrect facts. The media never put a stop to it and the current president never put a stop to it. They both knew that this movement was started due to lies perpetrated by the media and their failure to push the truth once it came out. Also our president never once told BLM to stop the nonsense. If the president would have came out, told BLM that it's ok to protest, it's ok to protest about facts, not fiction, then none of this SHIT would be going on now. It pushed his personal agenda and that's why we still haven't heard from him.

Btw, All lives matter. In case you were wondering.

Was in Manhattan last weekend. Walked up to Central Park, which I think is the greatest thing in NYC. Afterwards, came out around the 5th & 29th corner of the park and walked smack into the protesters outside of Trump Towers.
I'm sorry, but I just don't get it. I can't figure out what any of this is going to accomplish. The election is over. The vote took place, the people have spoken, a decision was made. Hillary, Bill, Bernie, Obama, Biden, ect... have all conceded to the results and have called for calm.
The ones I feel sorry for the most are the people whose lives are being turned upside down by all this. Trump Tower is largely residential, as are most of the other surrounding buildings.
Two city blocks worth of 5th Ave were barracaded off. All automotive traffic was deverted, creating bound up traffic in an area that's usually bumper to bumper on a good day. How many businesses are being negatively inpacted? Whose paying for all the police? The clean up after each day, ect..?

" With Ferguson, Missouri, bracing for a second night of violence and vandalism in the wake of the grand jury decision, President Obama warned protesters that “nothing of significance, nothing of benefit results from destructive acts.”

“I’ve never seen a civil rights law or a health care bill or an immigration bill result because a car got burned,” Obama said at an afternoon event in Chicago today originally scheduled to promote his recent immigration action. "It happened because people vote. It happened because people mobilized. It happened because people organized.” ABC News, 11/25/2014 (The full remarks are on Youtube and include "I don't have any sympathy" (for protesters burning buildings)).

Ignoring facts, selective memory, and painting with broad brushes is never a good way to prove a point. BLM was founded well before Ferguson. They did back the wrong horse, and never condoned violence contributed in their name. You only heard about the violence, not the peaceful actions because that doesn't earn clicks. (very similar situation that we're seeing this week). They have grown and are now mainstream enough that they are in corporate partnerships with programs to stop the cycle. I don't call all conservatives racist or bigots just because some unabashedly are and perform their own special kind of vandalism. There would be some serious rifts in my family and among my friends if I did.

All lives certainly do matter. But empirical evidence suggests strongly that some lives matter less than others, and that's where the now-hijacked slogan comes from. But easier to disingenuously dismiss a problem by mocking its name, than to admit that there is one, or explain why there isn't.

. . . .

A protest, by definition, does not necessarily need to accomplish anything more than voicing an opposition. While there are some who really want to somehow overturn the results, most are just voicing their outrage, disagreement and concerns.

Our right to peacefully assemble is guaranteed. Inconvenience and cost are a small price to pay to preserve that right.

A truly peaceful protest would cause ZERO inconvenience or cost... I guess unless you consider hearing people voice their opinion inconvenient.

Problem is, a good portion of these gatherings are riots, not protests. And a good portion of them are well funded, but have almost no clear message.

It doesn't make sense, especially when you see who his "transition" team is.. it's the same old people, probably no different than if HRC got elected (maybe a bit less war hawkish).

The honey moon for trump is already over:

Maybe I'd feel better if those who want to "voice their opposition" pay a Protest Fee as they enter the area.
Let them cover the lost revenue of the local businesses, the overtime of at least a hundred police officers, the construction of and breakdown of barracades, and the massive clean up afterwards.
That might at least spur the economy 😉

Or maybe the riots and protest are part of the whiny culture of today's youth. Safe places or time off from school to mourn an election loss please. then there is the "i didn't get my way so lets burn things" crowd.

I just read, and no I didn't fact check it, but a majority of those arrested in Portland didn't even vote. This is why Trump was voted in, the nonsense that keeps occurring by these so called protests. If you follow the bread crumbs, I'm sure you would find Soros behind it all.

That's my conspiracy theory for the day.:D

People need to switch off the 24 hr cable news. It's driving hatred and distrust like nothing ever before in our history.

Even a pro-football player (who acknowledged that he did not vote) sat out the National Anthem in protest. On Veterans Day weekend when Veterans were being honored on the sidelines.

I always wondered when the American people would push back against the far left. I guess now we know. The behavior of the media and many of the sore losers will just bring more of the middle working class
(the silent majority) to the polling places.

The word you are looking for is protected. As Trump has repeatedly stated, we can expect an onslaught of attacks on the protections afforded by the Bill of Rights.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Most of the 112 protesters arrested in Portland last week didn’t vote in Oregon, according to state election records. Approximately 30 percent did cast a ballot in Oregon or in another state.

Records show 39 of the protesters arrested were registered in the state but didn’t return a ballot for the November 8 election.

At least seventy-nine demonstrators either didn’t turn in a ballot or weren’t registered to vote in the state.

It certainly doesn't look promising. But I'll wait and see, given that he's shown signs of reneging on so many other promises.

Pretty sure this can be said about every president, ever.... Why would this one be different?

Wow. Seven whole pages of broken promises by the President. Good thing there are twice as many pages of promises he kept.

Wow. Thanks for that. I had to give up after the third page.
I had no idea there were so many promises even made.
