This was sent to me today and I thought I'd pass it along for discussion:

Conundrum
Free people are not equal.
Equal people are not free.
Continued:

"A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don't have one, you'll probably never need one again."

The definition of the word Conundrum is: something that is puzzling or confusing.

Here are six Conundrums of socialism in the United States of America:

1. America is capitalist and greedy - yet half of the population is subsidized.

2. Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.

3. They think they are victims - yet their representatives run the government.

4. Their representatives run the government - yet the poor keep getting poorer.

5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.

6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about - yet they want America to be more like those other countries.

Think about it! And that, my friends, pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st Century.

Makes you wonder who is doing the math.

These three, short sentences tell you a lot about the direction of our current government and cultural environment:

1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics.

Funny how that works. And here's another one worth considering...

2. Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. But we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money? What's interesting is the first group "worked for" their money, but the second didn't.

Think about it.....and Last but not least,

3. Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our military and cutting our army to a level lower than before WWII, but we are not stopping the payments or benefits to illegal aliens.

Am I the only one missing something?

#1 I think you need to separate some facts here from your obvious Fox "99% of the poor have a refrigerator!" News and reality.

That "half of the population is subsidized." comes from half the population not paying Federal Income Tax and includes the disabled, children and retired in its numbers, so it is deceptive at best. At worst, it is flat out BS because all people still pay other taxes, like sales tax, and gas tax.

2. Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.

3. They think they are victims.

Pure hearsay.

2. Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.

3. They think they are victims - yet their representatives run the government.

4. Their representatives run the government - yet the poor keep getting poorer.

You like to repeat yourself. Does that somehow make it right?

Last time I checked Republicans held Congress, and are looking to take the Senate. Which is it, which side is in control? Right now I don't think either side has control.

5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.

6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about - yet they want America to be more like those other countries.

Again, repeating it makes it correct?

Would you really put this great country on the level of comparing it to the Third World? You are no patriot. No one wants this country to be like the Third World.

1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics.

No one wants you to give up your guns. People simply want registration and tracking of ownership like a car is. There are far too many loose guns in this country, and I for one should not have one, but can easily lay may hands on one in days, legally.

3. Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our military and cutting our army to a level lower than before WWII

I agree we need to look after our veterans, pay our current serving army well, but I do not agree we need more military. These past two wars nearly ruined this country.

but we are not stopping the payments or benefits to illegal aliens.

I agree, but I would remind you that the Bible says Leviticus 19:34 You must treat the outsider as one of your native-born people—as a full citizen—and you are to love him in the same way you love yourself; for remember, you were once strangers living in Egypt. I am the Eternal One, your God.

Oh one other thing about the military, you really don't have a leg to stand on, the Republican backed use of mercenaries has taken a lot of the money.

I would be most interested as to why you are of the opinion you should not have a gun?

I asked one question in an attempt to understand why you stated you should not have a gun.

If you don't know how should I?

Never thought it would take you that long to rip it to pieces. As stated in the intro, I received it, read it and passed it along for others to comment. You may not know my opinions but I now know yours. Thank you.

Only at gun stores. I can walk into a gun show or buy from a independent person and pick up a gun no problem.

And "idle" dreaming has come up with most of the inventions of the entirety of time.

Facts
Red states get their similar share of benefits.
Corporations get more welfare than all food stamps. Conundrum?
The Democrats did ask for an end to fun ownership, instead for registration and background checks.
Plenty congressmen get farm aid. Therein lies a conundrum.
Some of the 47% grow up to pay taxes. They are called children. Obama was one.

I for one don't EVER want to see an end to 'fun' ownership! :}

For example:

Florida man shoots to death daughter, six grandchildren: cops

n 2003, the Orlando Sentinel reported, a man named Don Spirit, then 40, pleaded guilty to being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm after accidentally shooting to death his 8-year-old son during a hunting trip two years earlier. The boy, named Kyle, was shot in the head when his father's high-powered Browning rifle went off while the dad was pointing out a rust spot. After the shooting, the family moved to Bell.

The article goes on to say that he had a conversation with a deputy after shooting his child and grandchildren and managed to shoot himself with a gun. I'd bet that gun was a handgun, and I'd bet this guy got his guns at a gun show, or at least bought from a private seller.
