Crime Stoppers recognizes that crime is a problem in the territory and, unless citizens do our part, it may get worse. If you know something, say something. Even the smallest bit of information may be just what law enforcement needs to identify and arrest these criminals.

Dog fighting is cruel, inhumane and a felony offense in the territory. Please help put a stop to this by providing us with the times and locations of the fights and the names of the people involved in this animal cruelty. The minimum reward for an arrest is $357.

Let’s continue to help make the community a safer place to live by submitting information on these or any other crimes at www.CrimeStoppersUSVI.org or by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You may also text “USVI” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).

Your tips are completely anonymous and the stateside operators speak several languages. If your tip leads to an arrest or the recovery of stolen property, illegal drugs or weapons, you will receive a cash reward to be paid according to your instructions.

So what your claiming is: if folks report dog fights, then the VIPD will investigate. Really?

It was a notice from crime stoppers in the paper this AM. I don't think anyone is claiming anything. Read the notice, if you want to help follow the instructions.

Why not change the penalty.

I'd suggest perpetrators be stripped naked, hog tied with bacon wrapped testes, and thrown into a pit of the aforementioned animals.

And the same penalty is also suitable for pedophiles so it's a two-for!

(too much?)

Why would you do that to the bacon?

bacon is hard enough to get on this island.. I demand an alternate solution!

Crap, your right. How about dipped in left over bacon grease?

And for those concerned about infringing upon the dignity of the perpetrators, we'd let members of the cloth continue to wear their collars.

Hmm, well I do generaly save my bacon grease to cook other things with, but yes.. yes this is a good alternative.

for an added deterrant bonus you could heat the grease to around 450*; just incase the dogs don't like their meal rare.

Unfortunately, cock fighting is not yet illegal in the VI and you can obtain a business license for this, cheap.
Wonder if they pay gross receipts and taxes on all the money earned thru the gambling at these abhorrent spectacles.

There is presently a bill re; Animal Fighting Spectator Prohibition Act now in the US Senate.

U.S. H.R. 366/S. 666—Animal Fighting Spectator Prohibition Act
Sponsors: Reps. Tom Marino (R-PA), Jim McGovern (D-MA), John Campbell (R-CA), Jim Moran (D-VA)/Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Mark Kirk (R-IL), Maria Cantwell (D-WA), David Vitter (R-LA)
ASPCA Position: Support
Action Needed: Please email your U.S. senators and representative and ask them to support and cosponsor the Animal Fighting Spectator Prohibition Act.

Hmm, "Club Facetious". It's ok, but it just doesn't have the sizzle of "Club Snarky". I'm picturing geeky librarian types who spend way too much time on dictionary.com.

How true but at least it is law and it was a long, hard battle to get it in place so it's a step in the right direction.
