I have participated in many clean-ups in F-sted. It's always been wonderful! The people I have met, and the people who would supply breakfast because we were cleaning their street have been wonderful too!

Here's my beef with the whole process:

While the people of the community go out & do a great job, there is never any follow-up. Who should follow up? Why...that would be the government. DPW & DPNR are in fact tasked with the responsibility of maintaining the areas when it concerns blight. All those two agencies need to do is write letters & follow through. There is NO pride in a government job any more. Shameful.

Yes, It would be wonderful but let's face it, without the clean-ups sponsored by various organizations, especially the beach clean-ups, our islands would be even more of an eyesore and trash filled than they already are. Sad but true fact. Our Government remains useless while everyone (WMA in particular) sits on their butts, hands out expensive contracts for the work they should actually be doing and collects their paychecks while we continue to get little or nothing for our tax dollars.

I think it has more to do with people not throwing garbage in the streets or on the beaches. I think not littering should be stressed a little more in the schools, so hopefully things change.
