Hi and Hog Jowl / Good Luck Food Question

Hi!

I have been an avid reader of this board for a few months now and really appreciate the time many of you have taken to help people who are relocating or considering relocation to the islands. My husband and I arrived on STT at the first of October (when he began a one-year contract position). Much of the advice being shared here has been a great help! Thank you for being a great resource!

I am very serious about our New Year's Day good luck meal and was wondering if anyone on this board might know what grocery store to hit up for some tasty, luck-laden hog jowl? I went to cost-u-less earlier and found some ham hocks, but I am pretty sure those are not (as?) lucky.

Do you know of other good luck foods we should be eating? Is Callaloo a mystically lucky food? Also, we are not big drinkers but are thinking about venturing out tomorrow night for some people watching. Any suggestions?

Finally, just want to say "arrrggggg" to my fellow Pastafarians, and thank you! I thought about removing our FSM "fish" decal prior to shipping the car and am glad I left it on (though he lost one of his noodle-ly appendages, I am sad to say)

Happy Sunday to ya!

Try Pueblo or Plaza Extra - ask the butcher. I see all kinds of things such as chicken feet, (yuck) ham hocks, pig tails, feet, ears, etc so they may have your desired jowls. So does that mean if you survive eating it, you automatically are lucky? (only kidding!) Enjoy your New Years feast and have a great year.
