They are going to be seriously and possibly devastatingly impacted by hurricane Gonzales, that we were fortunate to have been spared by.

942 millibars and 145 mph winds. Forecasters said they could see 8 hrs of hurricane force winds and 27 of tropical force winds. I find that terrifying. Pray for them.

I'm not the religious type so I'll just hope that they don't get the shit kicked out of them.

He thinks he's better than us, and nothing will change that attitude.

Except impending death...

Not better. Just not superstitious. And nothing will change that. There is much scientific evidence which demonstrates the inefficacy of prayer. It only makes the person who is praying feel better about themselves.

I would have had the same reaction if you had suggested that we all cross our fingers for Bermuda. It would have the same effect, none at all.

A Christian telling an atheist that he is going to hell is like a child telling an adult that Santa isn't going to bring them any more presents. Soooo Scary!

So why bother injecting yourself at all into this thread just to turn it into a portrayal of your unbelief system?
Let's face it, these people are in for a harrowing and terrifying experience with regards to this hurricane and I, for one, will be praying for them. You can do what you want.

I was pointing out that praying accomplishes nothing. If you want to help the people of Bermuda then take up a collection and send them relief goods. Or better yet, go there and help with the cleanup. Do something real, not a fake gesture.

All you do by praying is make yourself appear pious. No one in Bermuda will receive any benefits from you pious behavior. It is a useless gesture that only benefits you.

Wow,

I'm not religious either, but what were you hoping to accomplish posting that? Talk about pious. Ever heard of karma? Do you believe in that? I sure hope so based on the home invasion experience you have so willingly posted about on here.

Hoping to counter delusional superstition. Karma is superstition too. I am not a Buddhist. What you do matters, prayer is nothing more than wishful thinking directed at an imaginary sky wizard. Some people think that by praying they are actually accomplishing something.

What does my home invasion have to do with anything?

As Sam Harris pointed out, If prayer actually worked then the British Royal family would live longer than normal humans since their health is prayed for by millions of people every week. God save the Queen!

Get off your knees and actually DO something real!

If you believe in the power of prayer then feel free to pray but mockingly denigrating those who choose to do so only demonstrates your own intolerance.

With more to come....... tomorrow will begin to tell the tale.
Weather channel is covering this pretty comprehensively.
In some photos they've shown, it looks like a complete white out.

When I looked at the web cam this morning, I saw lights! They still had power to their port.

And we lose power when it drizzles 🙁

Because he's entitled to have an opinion too. Just like I do. You wanna pray to something that's the figment of some ones imagination you go right ahead and waste your time. Don't hold your breath waiting for answers.
More people claim to see UFOs every year than seeing god. Go figure!

With a tag name such as loucypher, I wouldn't imagine you'd believe in prayer. No surprise there.

It must be quite burdensome to be so insecure about your beliefs that you find it necessary to demean someone else's to substantiate your own.

"Because he's entitled to have an opinion too. Just like I do."

I don't see where it was necessary to express an opinion at all.
