Does anyone know what happened to the Point Udall sign...the one along the concrete base of the monument as you enter the circle? We were there about a week ago and it was just fine. We went again yesterday and all that is left of it are the impressions in the concrete. Everything else had been stripped away.

Someone is going to decorate their backyard with the "Easternmost Point of the United States of America" sign set in stone. Or maybe they will rearrange the letters to come up with their own memorable phrase.

I saw a photo before the mess was cleaned up.The letters were plastic, and they were left there, all shattered into small pieces. At least they were smart not to replace the original metal letters. I'm thinking we should go with sidewalk chalk this time.Very senseless.
