1. What are also referred to as Triple A's (AAA)?

Hint: Each of their names begin with "A" and NASA keeps an eye on them..

Are you talking about astroides?
I'm stumped on this one!

Yes, Triple As is another term for Near Earth Asteroids (Objects):

"...While most of the literature refers to the near Earth asteroids as NEAs or NEOs (objects), sometimes they're referred to as AAAs or "triple-As" for Apollo, Amor and Aten...."

That was a hard one to figure out!

As difficult as some of the questions may be, the Board Members always find the answers. That is the challenge when posting questions under this topic: Very sharp people out there! 🙂

Congratulations everyone!

For our space mission enthusiasts: (Live camera aboard rocket).

Meet Orion, NASA's new spacecraft (Lockheed Martin), successfully launched yesterday aboard the most powerful rocket to date, the Delta IV Heavy (United Launch Alliance) on its first Exploration Flight Test (EFT-1) This is America's first step into deep space exploration, including the mission to Mars.

G'evening everyone. Another challenge? Have fun!

1. What element glows blue and 1 gram of it can generate 140 Watts of power?

2. At a quadrillion times (1016) more powerful than sulfuric acid, what substance can eat through glass and explodes when exposed to water?

3. What valuable resource produces 20% of the oxygen in the Earth's atmosphere?

4. What is the difference between bee stings and wasp stings?

5. The universe is governed by what 4 forces?

6. What force binds neutrons and protons together in the core of atoms?

7. In what mineral are the atoms of a pyramid latticework shape?

8. What material is 100-300 times stronger than steel, is one of the best conductors of heat and electricity, is bonded in a hexagonal layering, and is 1 atom in thickness?

9. At room temperature, what are the only two liquid elements?

10. What is considered the deadliest poison on Earth?

Wow! Good questions!

Too tired to do this tonight but, I can say from personal experience that bees die after an initial sting, wasps don't.

G'evening everyone. Another challenge? Have fun!

1. What element glows blue and 1 gram of it can generate 140 Watts of power?

2. At a quadrillion times (1016) more powerful than sulfuric acid, what substance can eat through glass and explodes when exposed to water? Fluoroantimonic acid - JohnnyU
Yes! This acid can eat through glass, because the fluoride ions attack the silicon atoms in glass while the protons are interactive with the oxygen.

3. What valuable resource produces 20% of the oxygen in the Earth's atmosphere?

4. What is the difference between bee stings and wasp stings? One loses their stinger - JohnnyU - Yes, this is true, whereby the bee loses his stinger and the wasp does not, but I'm looking for another specific chemically related fact. Good answer!

5. The universe is governed by what 4 forces? Strong, Weak, Electromagnetic, gravitational - JohnnyU. Yes!

Carbon/Graphite JohnnyU. Not quite.

9. At room temperature, what are the only two liquid elements? Hg & Br JohnnyU. - Yes. Mercury and Bromine are the only two elements that are liquid at room temperature. Gallium can be melted if it is held in the hand.

10. What is considered the deadliest poison on Earth?

True. Graphene is a 1 atom thick layer of graphite; What I was looking for was the specific name, Graphene, because the substance generically spoken of as being "1 atom thick" in this instance is referred to by its specific name, Graphene. Your answer was correct; the terminology is what I was thinking of.

7. In what mineral are the atoms of a pyramid latticework shape? Hint: It is regarded as the hardest known mineral substance. Diamonds. - DanielB _STX - Yes, diamonds!

In the case of carbon, aside from soot and charcoal, the most commonly known forms are diamond, graphite, and the fullerenes. In diamonds, the atoms are arranged in a pyramid shaped lattice. The atoms of graphite are sheets of hexagonal lattice, while fullerenes are similar lattices arranged into shapes such as balls (Buckminsterfullerine) or cylinders (carbon nanotubes). The different forms have different properties: diamond is electrically insulating and hard; graphite is an electrical conductor and is soft – hence its use as pencil “lead”.
