I'm a bit of a foodie and some of the new fruits I've learned about have been incredible.

Fresh passion fruit, soursop is amazing. I just tried chocolate fruit the other day and just made a smoothie with some. Egg fruit is pretty neat.

I lived at one place with an incredible carambola tree and would eat several a day.

The little blueish pineapples that art farm had last year was mind blowing.

I need to find a better farmers market for fruit. I can easily find great veggies.

Many of our local fruits are seasonal and depends on how dry or how much rain we get as to when they will bear fruit.
My Mango tree usually starts flowering in April but I noticed it has already started to flower. My Avocados usually bear in July/August but they have also been known to skip a year, sometimes. Limes are year round, as are coconuts and the many types of bananas, (apple bananas being my favorite are the small/dwarf looking ones.) Carambolas are so good too and a/k/a known as star fruit. Soursop I have noticed will bear year round. Northside STT, anyway. There are also different kinds of local cherries.

Avocados, coconut, carambola and bananas from my trees round out my top bunch. YUM. Also silly but Cilantro from my garden - we put it in everything and mine is SUPER flavorful. Made a garlic and cilantro rub for steaks last night, delish. My lemon basil too. Cant WAIT for my orangelo watermelon thou...pretty sure thats gonna be my new fav.

Ditto on the cherries!! I have a bush in my yard and do a little happy dance whenever there is fruit! I love finding fruit on walks and just eating it right then and there. A little bit primal in its own way. Once I even found a huge breadfruit lying on the side of the road and brought it home, very proud of my new acquisition. But my SO threw it out behind my back because "it didn't look right." I think it was fine.:-X

Jamison...get your taste buds on a mespo. OMG. They taste like pumpkin pie, and are creamy yet firm...The farmers market may have them from time to time. Also, Eggfruit, a must try!

The LaReine Farmers market is a must-go, but you have to go early if you want to try/buy fruits that are local, they go first!

Love Eggfruit. Haven't seen a mespo yet.

I also haven't been to that farmers market yet. I go to art farm and the gang down by burgers a lot. Sinjah farm stand is open a lot and really good too.

I like all the farms! The thing about LaReine is their selection of fruits that I just haven't seen any at other market. Not yet.

I didn't realize I have breadfruit too at my place. How do islanders prepare that? I've never had it before.

Hmmm...the shape is about right.

Those melons are more commonly found in Asia but they can certainly be found here as well. They are best served with mushrooms such as these

Some of them defy gravity.

I love soursop (Guanabana). I planted two trees in my yard a few years ago, and they always seem to have fruit on them.
