I am moving to the island August 19th. I am staying at the villa fairview while I look for a place to rent for a minimum 6 months. Does anybody have an apartment that would be available September 1st? I am looking for a 1 bedroom and my price range is 1000-1800. Let me know if there is anything available. Also, does anybody have suggestions on areas to live that are close to frenchmans bay? Or easily accessible where there is a lot of taxi traffic and I could get by without having a car and just use cabs. I was thinking that I would just consult the island trader once I get on the island since everyone that I speak to says, "call me when your on the island."

I think we emailed about my apartments in Red Hook. They are on, or near, the public transportation, but I can't help but wonder if you realize the Marriott is NOT on public transportation. Just thought I would mention it. You might want to look for a rental in Bakkeroe. They are a little more difficult to find, but you would be able to walk to the Marriott, maybe!

Or, if a room-mate situation would work for you, you might wanna check out my apartment...I spend half of each month on STX....

I have a cottage for rent in Frenchman's Bay but if you are not going to have a car and will be working at the Marriott it will be a LONG walk to work. Cute two bedroom, one bath cottage - gated home - nice view.
