Hi all. I'm having the hardest time finding a 2 bedroom place in (or very near) town. Craigslist is terrible, and the properties on here are not the biggest help. I guess I'm looking for non-realtor advice or heads up of places you see around town. PM me with ANYTHING you see. It would be a huge help! Thanks in advance!
Chris

this is for St. Croix...if you're on a different island, disregard!

Check out the following places (in addition to the newspaper)

Craigslist isn't big in the islands yet. Most rental properties are handled by the owner/landlord, although many Realtors and realty companies do handle some rentals (typically the higher priced stuff but with a sprinkling of affordable rentals mixed in).

To find something downtown, your best bet is to talk to everyone you meet and spend time on the boardwalk at the restaurants and beach bars since word of mouth fills more vacancies than all the advertising combined. Downtown rentals go very quickly. The only thing I have in town is a 2-BDR, 2-BTH condo at Schooner Bay in the Gallows Bay area.

i had the same issue before my move to STX. it's almost impossible to find an inexpensive place in town if you're not on island. however, if you can find a temp spot for a bit when you first get here and can be patient for a bit, things open up. as we get closer to season, it will get more and more difficult to find something. the seasonal bartenders, servers, and boat crews are just starting to trickle back in, and they usually take up the cheap close stuff. if you know anybody down here already, you can have them fax you copies of the classifieds from the avis. that's what i did, made the move much easier
