You will not be able to arrange long term housing from off-island, nor should you want to. Landlords will want to see you face to face before renting and you need to see the apartment before committing $$$.

To which island are you moving? Book a cheap hotel for a week or so and take that time to find permanent housing.

Better yet, invest in a pmv. Coming "on a whim" isn't generally a very good idea. If you do decide to take that route, make sure you have a return ticket in hand. Do research this forum well, Cheers!
