This is the last place that either me or my boyfriend would want to post. But it cant hurt. My boyfriend owns his own company and I am an RN. Word of mouth is everything and we laughed together thinking about posting here but we agreed that it would not hurt. He told me I should do it though. Locals for 15 years with incredible references. We own a boat and 2 cars. Looking for a 1 bedroom in the Cruz area. He will spread the word verbally but please if any of you out there know us, MM & AH, please look out for us. Send me a private message. Bad timing but we want to begin our lives together as never before. Thanks to all of our friends. Michael and Allison

I can't help, but why is this the "last place that either me or my boyfriend would want to post?"

Have you tried the new Guinea Grove apartments?

Because we know how difficult it is to find housing. Many new people to the islands post here to find apartments when the truth is that word of mouth is the best way to do so.

Dear islandnurse. I agree with LindaJ' s comment because I too was rather flummoxed when you said that, "This (forum) is the last place that either me or my boyfriend would want to post."

That was a rather negative post as written.

But then you rather perpetuated that negativism by saying in response that, "Because we know how difficult it is to find housing. Many new people to the islands post here to find apartments when the truth is that word of mouth is the best way to do so."

Personally, I've so far set up three newbies - via this forum - in a very nice location right next to me here on STT. No kickback here whatsoever, just being a good neighbour! Ergo, this forum DOES work in many instances where either newbies or residents are seeking accomodations.

If you and your boyfriend have been STJ residents for 15 years, why do you have a problem finding accommodation particularly in slow season?

I think that maybe there is more here than meets the eye.

I wish you well.

Sensitive Sensitive. I know its a small island, but PLEASE get a life..... We were joking about posting here before even speaking to our friends. I wont even respond any further to your ridiculous tirade.

Good luck on your apt hunt, Island nurse! Having lived on STJ, I know how difficult it is to find housing there, 15 year resident or not! Sorry you got reamed! Take care.......

I'm sorry that "islandnurse," in my opinion, skewed my comments and interpreted them so disdainfully, As a 22 year fulltime STT resident with a large history of community involvement and knowledge of wha's happenin', I have always had and currently do have a most interesting "life" and don't need to "get one" where island living is concerned.

I simply agreed with Linda that "islandnurse's" initial post sounded rather derogatory towards this forum and further questioned that someone who describes herself and her husband as, "locals for 15 years with incredible references" would have a problem finding a simple 1-bedroom partment in the vicinity of Cruz Bay. You have a boat and two cars so one might also question why you need to live in the Cruz Bay area.

I'm sorry if I offended "islandnurse" via my comments. I obviously don't know the whole story and would welcome answers which would better afford me the ability to keep my ears and eyes open and extend to her the same courtesies which I afford to the majority of those "good" folks who pass my way.

If I "stick" friends, neighbours or acquaintances with prospective tenants on any island, then my own integrity is at stake.

I still maintain that her initial post was in a sense combative regarding this forum and I stlll don't understand why she and her husband "laughed about" posting here, when so many others have taken this route and done extremely well.

My two cents response is over and done with. Cheers! Perchance to sleep to dream...
