Hi all,

We will be relocating to STX July 1, 2010, just 2 months away!! Airfare bought! Apartment secured! Now all we need is an island starter car hopefully within a wk or 2 of being on land. Please keep us in mind if you hear of anything in our price range of $2500 or less (focus on the less). I plan on getting the STX Avis sent to me in NYC for the month of June to aid in this process, but doesn't hurt to get the word out... Thanks to all who have helped us with this move and to those we had the pleasure of meeting on our latest trip there a couple weeks ago. This site has been a blessing!

Rebecca & Seth

Thank you. Got a po box already and am addressing boxes to ship, it's a little surreal, but great! My biggest worry to come in the moving process is getting my 3 kitties there safely, they have reservations in the airplane cabin, but worry about delays and stressing them out even more than necessary 🙁 But many before have done it successfully, so all should be good!

You might want to think of spending a little more, b/c everyone try's to go cheap but ends up paying double the price of the car with repairs and rental cars.

A lot of islanders are now purchasing vehicles in the states and having them shipped down. Dealership prices are CRAZY - whether new or used. I'd advise you to purchase a vehicle of your choice from Fl & get it sent down

I guess it's been long enough now that you don't have to worry about this, but a few years back FL cars were often "hurricane cars", meaning they had taken salt water during a storm and been cleaned up. Some dealers made a business out of shipping cars out of FL. I don't even know if we have Carfax here, but a car coming from FL should.

Thanks for the ideas all, but for us a cheaper used car will have to do to start... I am aware of the risks of buying used, but don't really have a choice right now. Once we are stable down there, we may consider getting one shipped, but for starters a used something to get us from point A to B will have to do... 🙂
