Lawrence,

Did you do a pre-move visit to check things out and secure a job?! I'm going next week to job hunt and look for a rental. Want to move first of June but having challenges finding job leads while not on island (unless I want to wait tables which I prefer not to/don't think it will cover bills).... Hopefully I will make more headway while there next week! Are you shipping a car or just going to wing it?!

Thanks and Good luck!

Jobs are hard to come by in June as it is our slow season and many businesses, especially bars/restaurants downsize until Oct./Nov. when season picks up again. Many places close completely in Sept. Make sure you have a cushion of funds to see you thru.
$10K MINIMUM is not unrealistic as many rentals will require 1st, last plus a security deposit, then you may have to set up and pay for utilities if not included. If you have pets, many rentals require a pet deposit. Good Luck.

If you are wanting to ride a bicycle on St. Thomas, you may want to check it out first, because I think you have a death wish.

That was my immediate reaction too! Your housing options are going to be really slim with biking as your sole means of transportation. Hopefully you have good health insurance coverage which is accepted here, and signing up with a local medical airlift company would also be a good idea.
