Hi All,

As we count down the last few years until our daughter finishes school before we make our move I've enjoyed reading the diffierent moving stories that have been posted. It has been a long, long time since anyone has posted a new one. Anyone up for the task? I'd love to read some more up to date stories of current island living.

Our move was relatively uneventiful, packed our stuff, drove, put our stuff on a boat, started work and settled in. I say pull the trigger and make the move. What are you waiting for? the schools are fine and the water is great! Pm us and we would love to give you details and ways to go about getting down here to the "Fun House."

Thanks candt0529,

Pulling the trigger is definitely not the way we are going at this point, more like a slow burn. We basically bought a dump, totally renovated it and currently rent it out until we are ready for the move. At the time we knew that we had a lot of things to take care of before we took the plunge but our finances at least seemed in order at the time, not so great now in this economy.

We have deep roots in our small town in Iowa and knew going into this that we would like to finish raising our children here. They have had the bonus of a little island living, they were the workforce behind our renovation project.

I think that we have taken the "pre-move" visit to another level. That first year we were on island for almost 3 months and still try to spend at least 3 to 4 weeks each year.

I've enjoyed reading and posting on this board for some time now and had noticed that not a single moving story had been posted for several years. An update would be refreshing. I love that everyone has their own take on things and what I really like is that these are true remarks from those who know best. No sugar coating, straight from the gut but also the kindness shared on this forum has been endearing. I know, living vicariously but truly appreciate the authors that have taken the time to tell their tale.

Thanks,

Molly

I don't even know how you go about doing that. Anyone else know how to post your moving story. Not to the message board, but where it says "moving stories."

You post your story on the message board and Islander decides if he/she wants to put them int he section labeled moving stories.

Makes Islander sound a little like Jacob on Lost, LOL.

In which case, who is the Man in Black here?

Best,
