A 50 cent jump is definitely collusion.

I read recently about OPEC lowering production, to raise prices, but prices stateside have not jumped by 50 cents!!!

The highest jump in the states was 14 cents.

Here is an excellent blog that shows what's happening.

Stateside prices are generally only going up only pennies a day if that.

Gas store by entrance to Judith's Fancy at Northside Rd was 198.9 when I went by a few hours ago. Target in Frederiksted was up to 2.39 from my Monday's purchase at 184.

Super Tanker lowered their price exactly a month ago just to be nice and the competition all quickly followed. Not a surprise that the honeymoon is over just a matter of who makes the first move.

It was at 2.35 on Sunday at most stations when I filled up the rental, when I got back to NY, it was at 2.49, which rose about 11 cents in the week since I left.

Let the collusion begin

It never stopped. Its all smoke and mirrors with the gas station operator's cartel. But I don't really care about gas prices much. I'm going to drive my cars no matter what.

Too bad the Avis no longer publishes the rack rate.

We went up a little $3.33/$3.35. I don't drive much, and have a smaller car, so not that big of a deal for me. My husband has a big ol' truck and works all over the island. He ends up spending about 7 times as much as me on gas every month.

But, for your husband, that's a business expense to be written off against earned income. So why worry about it?

Yes, and no. It becomes harder to deduct that when he is an employee without throwing a red flag. We have been audited five years in a row and I deduct less and less just to stop the nonsense. Never once have I had to 'reverse' any of my deductions on previous returns, but the headache of having to go to STT and meet with the IRB auditor and bring mountains of paperwork just isn't worth the measly deduction I can get for gas.

STT prices went up from last week /$2.7999 (or was it $2.99, can't remember) when I filled up to $3.0799 when I drove by the same gas stations today. The 4 between the Sugar Estate P.O. and Pueblo ALL
had the same price. So much for having a competitive edge!

Probably the only reason you're being "audited" is because you are due a refund which they can't afford to pay becasue the GVI is virtually bankrupt.

If you structure your tax return so you owe them a small amount, you'd be surprised how quickly your return is processed audit-free and they hand is out looking for the check..

The rack rate for various fuels sold last week to a certain retailer in the east end of STX and delivered by Bunkers is as follows:

Regular = $2.15/gallon
Premium = $2.25/gallon
Diesel = $1.89/gallon

Subtract that from the posted price per gallon and you have the gross profit per gallon. Subtract expenses and taxes and you have the net profit.
