How can we get auto insurance rates for the virgin islands. We have been looking at the major insurance providers online and no one seems to want to rate for the islands.
Do you have to be down there to get your insurance set up?
Thanks.

You were asking about Beltjen Road on another post and Ronnie mentioned the Tunick Building. I'd suggest calling Tunick Insurance at (340)776-7000. They've insured my vehicles and property for several years. There is also Guardian Insurance at 776-8050, Kreke Corporation at 774-3503 and a whole bunch of others.

In answer to your question about having to be here to get insurance set up, you have to be here to get pretty much anything and everything set up and I hope you're prepared! And also hope that you've read everything on this forum's archives about moving here!

Hello Crystal,
You could also try calling PGU INsurance Services. THey have offices on ST Thomas, St John, & St. Croix. their number is (340)-775-9392.
For liabililty insurance, they charge $317 (st Thomas), $236 (St John), and $357 (St Croix). These rates are only good if you don't have a driver under 26 years old, and weren't in any accidents in the last three years. Otherwise they will be higher. If you need to set up the insurance before you arrive on the island, they could mail you the applications that you would need to sign. You could mail them back with a check, copy of your drivers license, and proof of ownership. SO, for example, if you are moving here from Pennsylvania, you would include a photocopy of your Pennsylvania title. that will be enough to get you started. You'll also have to know what your Virgin Island address is going to be. However, after a year, when you go to renew, they will require a copy of your Virgin ISland registration card.

Lloyds of London writes a lot of coverage in the VI.

Find someone locally that works with Lloyds and you maybe able to arrange coverage dealing with someone in PA.
