My wife and I have decided to attempt to relocate to STX late spring/early summer 2009. I lived in the BVI as a youth and as an adult have dreamed about returning. Now I have a wife and two children (one 2 and one 13) and I want them to be able to experience the lifestyle and environment that has influenced a large part of my life.

Currently we researching the real estate market and Realtors, any information on areas of the island to look in or avoid is greatly appreciated.

IMHO, Alexandra who post on this board is the best Realtor on STX. I have used her twice, and would again.

The best way to figure out the right part of the island for you is to come down for a week and explore. It usually doesn't take people long to find their own best fit. Some prefer the dryer east end, some the lusher northwest quarter where the rainforest is located, and others like being center island for the convenience factor. You'll want to visit some schools while you are here, too. New arrivals are generally advised not to put their children in the public schools for a variety of reasons. You'll be able to find a lot of past postings on that subject on this website.

Feel free to email with any specific real estate questions you may have and I'll answer what I can. [email protected]
