Just wondering what are some of the best local spots to visit in STX.......I do not want to do the touristy things in Croix, just finding where the locals eat breakfast/lunch/dinner would be fine with me. And any good bars? Thanks!:D

I like Paradise Cafe in Christiansted (Queen Cross Street) and Golden Rail (Gallows Bay Marina) for breakfast. Inexpensive and good food.

Check the St. Croix Restaurants Review thread a few posts down - it will give you the rundown of restaurants here.

Brew Pub (on the boardwalk) and Tavern 1844 (Company Street) are the only real bars down here. The Comanche Mill Yacht-less Club just opened - it's a small bar in a sugar mill on the boardwalk. can't miss it. Zebo's (downtown Christiansted) is nice if you like to shoot pool and they have a great wine list, it's an upscale restaurant. On the weekends, the place gets packed and there's usually a live band. Sharkey's is a sports bar (right outside of town heading east, next to Schooner Bay Market Place across from the ballpark).

I think there's a nightlife thread somewhere on here - do a quick search 🙂

Best lunch in C'sted is Cafe Christine, in the apothecary courtyard. Calling ahead to reserve a table is highly recommended as it's small and fills up quickly over the lunch hour, especially the porch. Her cold soups are to die for. Likewise the duck terrine.

Off The Wall has pretty good pizza. Go around sunset for the sunset shots! A bit of a drive but well worth it.

Great views as well.

I second El Sol. It's the best kept secret on STX. Their BBQ steaks are good and cheap.

Cafe Fresco for lunch (Penthany Courtyard downtown)
Ziggy's (the old Solitude gas station) for FANTASTIC sandwiches & mac/cheese
El Sol for great steaks & chicken
Shenanigans in Pan Am for breakfast

You're coming to St. Croix so don't worry about doing overly touristy things. They don't really exist here 🙂 It is one of the nice things about coming to St. Croix.

What is the name of the little place across from Sunny Isles Shopping center. It had really good chicken and all the sides that came with it were amazing. I Visited STX March and will be back full time in May.

LOL, true the pig is touristy, but I've been here for years and I still enjoy them and some Mamawana from time to time!

Island is too small for anyone to just cater to tourists and we don't have enough of them to do that either. I would suggest being careful were you grocery shop. For example Schooner Market and Food town are both very nice, but you're going to pay for it!

B man - the place in the Triangle shaped building next to the rent-to-own furniture store? I don't know if it has a name - but it's really good.

Long ago it used to be Margaritas and had great Mexican food - she used to make her own Tamales from scratch. Then it became down home fish fry. After that me no know.

Harvey's/Brady's/Junie's/Villa Morales/Kim's for West Indian and Puerto Rican food. Coreen's (sp) roach coach in the parking lot across from Watergut is excellent (she does a great veggie platter). Ace Roti is now making Trini style West Indian. Martha's in the Watapana mall across the street from Plaza East has good West Indian food too. And of course Chicken Shack in La Reine. Lastly there is a lady named Pat who cooks out of a rented kitchen in Peter's rest who makes increadible Pullau and "Buss Up Shut".

I think it's spelled "meuhno". Agreed, though, that Margarita's is missed.

Also, I second whomever recommended Cafe Fresco in the Penthany courtyard. I love her "Funky Chicken" salad!

I love Lalita in the Kalima Center - across from the government house. They have amazing smoothies and vegetarian lunch options - salads, sandwiches, apps, cold and hot soups.... Their sandwiches are really big with really fresh ingredients - $8 for a wrap or on wheat bread. They're also open for dinner, but i haven't been. My favorite is the Orange and Lime smoothie with bee pollen added in and "The Works" on wheat bread. The courtyard is also really pretty with a koi fish pond - you just feel really great going in and coming out.
