Of the few I have had here I say the Shipwreck Tavern makes a great steak, seems like it's around $18 in price.

I have a hard time with restaurant steaks, since I make my own so much better, but Shipwrecks has the best flavor I have tasted in a while.

oh yeah. Forgot the price. I think Heidi's steak dinner is around $20. The sides always vary depending on what is fresh in the market at the time. You can either BYOB or buy drinks from her. Dining is next to the shoreline on Honeymoon Beach. Water Island ferry has a late run (call the Captain to let him know he will have passengers on the late run) on Saturday nights.

Oh, I agree about 1829 a long while back. Also, Fiddle Leaf but not for steaks, at least that's not what I had there.

The best steak I've ever eaten was at Noche but it's no longer there. High priced but wonderful. I did have a really good steak at Mafolie a month or so ago but can't remember the price.

Are we talking Fiddle Leaf at Watergate or next to Galleon House downtown?

I like the steaks from Marina Market lovingly grilled Chez Moi...

Patricia LaCorte started Fiddle Leaf in the Safari building on back street. There is a big fiddle leaf tree in the courtyard, hence the name. She moved it around ending up at Watergate. Now she is located at Oceana and they serve a nice steaks there as well!

There is a newer restaurant Lotus, which is mostly a Japaneese-Asian place, but also serves traditional foods has great steak and Off The Hook located in Red Hook has amazing steak, but a little pricey.

EE, the one by Galleon House. IMO, her restaurants haven't been as good since that one.
Edited to add that she's a great restauranteur but I think she peaked with Fiddle Leaf.

Scremped,
you beat me!
I think mine is the best too!
Does anyone know about propane grills & mesquite ceramic briquettes?
Call me old fashioned when it comes to the grille, I always used charcoal & Hickory or Mesquite to smoke in a wood flavor!
My wife ordered a massive propane grille, & I don`t want to disappoint her when I cook ribs/Chix/Steak on it.
There are tricks to all trades, anyone know any?
I`d like to try Lotus(I love Oriental flavors)!

Hi, Beachbumq. It's in Red Hook at American Yacht. I haven't been there but have heard nothing but good things about it.

Ronnie: I forgot about the Safari connection, of which I have only heard. This was before the days of the Safari Club and the stories you and your cousin love to tell or after? When I arrived, Fiddle Leaf was at the Galleon House space.

P.S. Someone's *birthday* is creeping up on them! 😉
(Yes, promo, you, too!!)

The fillet at Havana Blue is pretty tasty. I also dig the wasabi mashed potatoes!

Lotus is excellent. I can't say anything about a steak though. All I ate there was their sushi type offerings.

EE, those weren't alterations but embellishments.
