I read a couple posts that really make biking sound difficult. With the climate you would think that it would be a popular and cheap method of travel. Would it really aggrivate alot of drivers to share the road with bikers? Would i be making enemies?

Do you mean bicycles or motorbikes? On STT, bicycles aren't too practical for the most part. Motorcycles are used on both STT & STX. I assume from your other posts you're talking about STX.

I bike to get around on STX. It is not my only means of transport, just something I do on weekends to keep in shape while running errands. Some areas are okay and others I wouldn't risk my life with. A couple miles into C'sted isn't bad depending on where you are coming from.

mkoz,
One must be alive to have enemies. The USVI are not the best place in the world to ride. The roads, pot holes, pitch, slippery when wet, There is not alot of bikers on the islands so drivers of auto's and trucks don't look out for you, it's the old story " I didn't see Him". If you are an experienced rider you may have a shot.

Hey,

I have been on island 2 months and have been using a bike to get to and from work (around 2 miles) and its real nice to ride when I am not working. Vehicles have been giving me a pretty wide berth so I haven't had a problem with that.

It is not a solution as a main source of transportation as the island is pretty large (30 or so miles long) and there are some nasty hills. So be prepared to be begging to borrow people's cars.

Hope that helps

Elliott

It sure does help. I will opt for the bike then. Let me ask you, is yours a road or mountain bike and which do you recomend for the terrain?
