If you were looking for general employment on St. croix and had just moved there what area or town would you go to first?

It might be smart to do a pre-move visit before just showing up. What kind of work? It would be wiser to check out the island before moving to check out rentals, jobs, costs of day to day things, etc.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH TRADE, if you don't do that PMV thing , unless you are coming in with some good dough and very sound education you could be in a whole lot of worries. good luck.

If you are planning on moving down here without a PMV, you would get a short term rental through a realtor, the closer to C'sted the better. The Comanche will rent you a room by the week but don't except it to be nice. Then you can figure out whether you want to buy a car (if you can do without one, you should) and where you can live long term. If you live in C'sted and meet other statesiders a roommate situation won't be too hard to find. This is also where you'd look for work first, then going to the restaurants and hotels within a mile or two out of town if no luck.
