Netflix, Hulu +, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple , etc. with the options of streaming killed it... Unavoidable trend changes... The last time I was there I could see the writing on the wall... Besides, most Walmarts have reduced their DVD racks by more than half... If they can barely sell their inventory in the mainland, it makes just much tougher for Blockbuster to be able to sell and rent with regular stores in the VIs... Streaming and e-stores are the dominant species...

It is painful 'cause more people will be out of work... and there will be one more empty space at Golden Rock Shopping Center.. Heck, eventually those who sell the bootleg movies/music will be "out of business"...

E-store, select, use plastic, download/ stream, and GO without leaving home...

Surprised they've lasted this long. Should have been turned in to a vending machine years ago.

Blockbuster was purchased by DISH Network. If you are a DISH subscriber, you can have over 10,000 titles available to you at your finger fingertips thru your remote and your Dish account.

What you said is true in the 50 states, however the Blockbuster here and in Puerto Rico are different companies than the stateside operations. As far as I know Dish didn't have an ownership interest in them.

With Dish you had the option of a combined Dish and BB account but because of the local BB not being part of Dish's BB you could not pick up and return DVDs from the store on STX or exchange DVDs you got by mail at the store.

With a Dish DVR and a subscription to Blockbuster @ Home you get thousands of streaming movies, discs by mail, and tons of games by mail. The streaming just became available a few months ago to the VI. $10 mo add on. Requires internet connectivity for streaming of course. New customers get to try it free for 3 months and existing customers should ask about the half price special. Wasn't sure about returning the discs to the store here on STX.......

If you have a modern HD DVR ie: 722, 622, Hopper..... and it's internet connected, call Dish and ask for half off trial. It works like a champ for us!!!!

No phone required.
Just like Netflix or Hulu you need an internet connection to stream anything. If you have a router, hook up an ethernet cable to the DVR. If it won't reach there are options. Wireless adapter being the next choice. Dish will supply you with one.
