I've heard several people talk about the bugs in the USVI. What kind of bugs are you talking about? I'm from MN, bug capital of the midwest and I don't really think bugs would be a problem, but I'm curious.

They don't call roaches Mahogany Birds for nothing down here. 🙂 They can get rather large but you can pretty well keep them out of your house. No-see-ums at the beach but they don't bite me any more. After heavy rains the mosquitoes can get pretty fierce. Then there are gongolos, ticks (if you have pets), centipedes, ground spiders.

Nothing that's too horribly frightening, although I really loathe centipedes but don't come across them frequently.
I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting.

Oh, ANTS. My sugar canister sits in a bowl of water. Little, tiny ants.

You forgot about the flesh piercing "fire ants". They can leave a welt the size of a gumdrop.

Actually, bugs here are about the same as most warm weather areas. The roaches, mosquitos and biting flys in the southern states are much worse than the Virgin Islands. IMHO
