Buying a Car on STT

Hi All! My boyfriend and I are moving to STT from central NY. We both just sold our cars and are looking for some advice about purchasing a car on STT. I have gotten some valuable information from reading previous threads but I am wondering whether it is better to purchase a car privately or buy one from a dealer? Has anyone had a particularly good experience with a dealership on STT? Is it true there are no lemon laws in the USVI? Do dealerships in the USVI commonly offer pre-owned cars with warrantees? Is it hard to get financing from a dealership?

I'm also wondering about auto insurance. What is a good auto insurance company to use on St. Thomas? Do all insurance companies require 1 year of insurance up front (no quarterly payments)?

Thank you for any advice!

We move to STT on Oct. 31! Can't wait 🙂

As for service, I've had good luck with the Toyota dealership. I haven't bought a used car though. Toyotas, Hondas & Suzukis are probably the most popular cars here but naturally there are other brands.

Guardian Insurance 776-8050
Inter-Ocean Ins. 774-2999
First Insurance 714-1988

Those are some agencies here but I have no idea if they sell quarterly or not. You can contact others at www.viphonebook.com

They do have payment plans with 1/3 down.
There are lemon laws.
Dealers sell pre-owned, both used on island and import from mostly Florida.
All warantys are upheld here.
I have 2007 Honda CRV fro sale, 10,000 miles, asking $24,900 OBO.
