It would be very nice to have it open before the J Benton crew starts digging up King Street on Thursday.

Commisioner Small was on 93,5 on Tuesday.

He would not give a date-------however he did say it would be the month of January 2013.

The opening will be an event----as the federal autorities are already scheduled to be here for the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Official date will be announced by next week he said----------------it will be this month.

26 years later, the bypass will be oening.

Forget the ribbon cutting nonsense...just get on with opening it.

No one should be proud of that debacle.

26 years...really.

Last time I had the urge to bloviate was the morning after a rather spicy curried goat. 😎

Issued By: VITEMA
Affected Jurisdictions: St. Croix County

Headline: Christiansted Bypass to Open to Vehicular Traffic at 8 a.m. on Saturday, January 12

Governor John P. de Jongh, Jr. has directed the Commissioner of Public Works to open the Christiansted Bypass to ease the flow of vehicular traffic through downtown Christiansted. The Bypass will be opened at 8 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, and is expected to alleviate intense congestion occurring with construction on the current WAPA project.

Public Works Commissioner Darryl Smalls will make a determination in the next few days as to whether police officers will be needed to man the bypass intersections during rush hour traffic.

Been sneaking through for the last few days. Even passed a taxi going the other way once. Shaved ten minutes off my drive time. It's about time.
