I'll be out of town for 3-4 days in the beginning of December. Need someone reliable to either stay with her or take her home with them. She's old and mellow but she just doesn't like being alone. Stopping by to feed her won't be enough company for her, she would need some interaction. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

thanks!

STX. We won't leave her at a boarding facility. We were hoping someone could stay over or take her to their place.

I understand some people prefer not to board their pets, for whatever reason, but I have to put in a plug for Sugar Mill. It is awesome, so much more than just a kennel like you may be used to. I would much rather have my animals there, where there is a vet available and people who are trained to care for animals than to leave them with someone I don't know. If you haven't been by there, you might want to go tour the facility and talk to the staff. Enjoy your trip. Hope you both are well.

A kennel is still a kennel no matter how pretty they make it and pets don't really care what color the walls are, they are always happier in their own home. Kenneling is very stressful for pets, especially older pets.. but it is necessary sometimes. It is true that Sugar Mill is a beautiful facility. There are, however, very good, qualified and responsible pet sitters on island. If you have not found one yet feel free to pm ... I know of two or three that I recommend and use for my own three dogs. Many of the vet techs also do pet sitting at home and are extremely reliable. Definitly a good call would be to the vet offices for recommendations.
