Hello all,

I was just thinking about car rentals in Stx when I arrive June 2007. I will only be 22 and dont you have to be 25 to rent cars? In that case does anyone have suggestions on transportation or is a taxi the only way to go until I buy a car of my own? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks alot,
Kyle

I'm not sure about the age, but we have had great service renting from Midwest Auto. Ask for Sharon.

The franchise agencies rent to under 25 renters. I think they charge an extra $10 per day.

I always use Judi of St Croix at 340-773-2123..1-877-903-2123 toll free.....they pick up at airport and they are genuinely good people. Don't know about the 25 year old issue.

All car rental companies on island won't rent to you if you're under 25 and have a major credit card in your name.

Unless Avis and Hetrz have changed their policy, this isn't so.

Don't you mean "unless you have a major credit card"?

I didn't think you could be under 25 but i wasnt for sure. That kind of puts a damper on things and I even have a major card to back it up. Looks like a car will be my very first priority besides an apartment. Oh well looks like I better hit the ground running a little faster. Thanks for all the help, Im sure I will have many more questions before my move June 2007.

Peace out,
Kyle

Kyle, don't know if you understood my post, but do try Avis or Hertz, they do it. It's not impossible either to find an agency that will rent by the month as well until you find a car. Try Olympic Car Rental in that case.
