Construction/Homebuilding Jobs

I would like any input someone can give me on looking for a job in the home building industry. Custom home building is what I really want to do, I have built several large homes in the States.

Is the home building business in STT, STJ active? I had my GC license a number of years ago but am presently employed in the hardwood lumber business, What I really want to do is build home, work outside, etc.

If a homebuilding business is not do-able, I can do everything from roof framing to electrical to interior trim and flooring.

Any help or direction much appreciated. Dream is living on STT, STJ, now is the time to get serious about it.

Just keep in mind that construction materials are quite different down here. Everything is masonry. Poured foundation, concrete block walls, etc. All electrical is run through conduit. Roofing is not shingles, well except the clay ones, its all membrane coating since we drink from the roof.

YOu should have no problem jumping onto a crew. The best way to get a job like that, which is how I found mine, is just hang at a couple of local bars and really start talking to people. $20 an hour should be no problem. And you will get promoted quickly if you show up, sty sober, and actually have a pretty good clue about what is going on.
