The story is always the same for the perps.

Check them out. Google their names or search on vidailynews or stxsource.
Criminal histories...some violent offenses...and I believe a few are supposedly on "house arrest"...

Five perps in hospital...who is paying for that bill?

No respect for the laws of the VI. No respect for VI Police. No respect for human life.

Why should these repeat offenders be allowed to have freedoms?
Why aren't their crimes against the island communities enough to put these perps behind PRISON BARS rather than allowing each of them to sit free and easy in our ISLAND BARS?

Anyone have an answer as to why it's almost impossible to make violent criminals pay for their crimes in the VI?

The attitude is disgusting. I remember reading an article a few weeks ago about the family members of a murderer PROTESTING, talking about his 'right to life' and 'oppression' because prison is unfair. The hypocrisy and lack of respect for human life/the victim is appalling. I think he was a cop and was executed.

Ironically, trying to find the article I stumbled upon this:

http://stcroixsource.com/content/news/local-news/2005/11/23/protestors-stop-shoppers-starfish-market

The best part of it? Dozens of people "take off work" and spend their day protesting starfish market.... When asked what they were protesting- NONE OF THEM KNEW.

Why? Because they have relatives of relatives who are in the judiciary so the crimes go unpunished. They don't pay a price when they can convince, bribe or threaten a jury and get a mistrial or are set free. It's a great third world country we are in after all.

Anyone have an answer as to why it's almost impossible to make violent criminals pay for their crimes in the VI?
