Daycare

Okay, I think this is my last question for right now...

As I said in the question about the dogs and the beaches, I have a 4-week old daughter. We will be needing daycare of some sort for her while we work. I am an English teacher on the mainland, and would like to get into teaching on island if possible. If not, I'm not sure what I will be doing.

How hard is it to find affordable daycare for an infant? And, what is considered "affordable"? What kind of accredidations are required of daycare providers on the islands?

Thanks!!

Okay...well..poopie. I was reading through some stuff on that website you sent me, but it said "no child under 24 months may be admitted to a day care."

Is that really true?? I can take my daughter to a day care place here after 6 weeks...help?!?!

Hi Im moving to there on Nov 5th with a 7yr oldgirl and a 4yr old boy. For the frist time in there life I dont have to work. But my daughter will go to school. I was looking into maybe watching a few kids at home. That way my son would have kids to play with and I could spend time with him also.

Which island are you moving to?

We are still up in the air about my hubby's promotion, but we should know something this weekend--we think. If he does get the job, I would be very interested in talking to you more about possible day care. That is, assuming I find a job too! LOL

Thanks!!

Mandy

We have been evaluating several daycares on-island and have found most to be between $300-$600 per month for 5 days a week.

We have decided to send our daughter to Antilles daycare, which costs $27/day or $600/month for children under 12 months. They had the closest to what we wanted out of a daycare, but there are several people I know send their children to Building Blocks of Love ($400/month). When I get home I can post the numbers.
