Hello-

I called DirecTV for new service in St Thomas. They said they do service the island, but it is up to a DirecTV tech. on the island to install the dish (?) They did not have the phone number for the directv office in St Thomas ??

Does anyone have a phone number for DirecTV on STT so they can install/start up service for me on the island? Is there a DirecTV office on the island to call directly?

Much appreciated!!

You DO realize that DirecTV on St. Thomas/St. Croix is DirecTV Latin America. The majority of the programming is in Spanish. Just a heads up. It is not the same as DirecTV in the states. I've been told that most of the stations are out of Puerto Rico. Just a "heads up".

I used Paradise Satellite in STX and I'm quite sure they do business in STT. AFter having a terrible go around with dish network and gettting no where, found these guys. Had such a good experience with them, then called them in to set up my husbands office, which they did promptly and with no problems. I highly recommend them. 718-2488.
Don't know if satellite is the same as direct, but hope this helps.

Rick, here is the website for the local direct tv. http://www.directvusvi.com/ Its pretty good. The middle package is a good deal and most of the channels are the same as Direct tv stateside. Commercials are in spanish (mostly) but the shows are english. There are several spanish channels too. You can get the networks (except ABC) and free installation and a $10 discount for the first year.

And for comparison here is the website for a local Dishnetwork retailer. Me8-)
http://paradisesatellite.getdish.com/

The only drawback to Dish is the possibility of a 30 day waiver delay for the networks from All American Direct. 1-800-909-9677 $3.49 ea per month.
I should know more about Dish offering Caribbean networks in the coming weeks. I'll keep you posted.

The Free HD is what really sets Dish in the lead here. Among other things.*-)

Edited to add,...Not all the HD on the website is available in the VI. We currently get 50 channels in HD.

For reference that's about 5x as many HD channels as you will get with DirecTV...

Save yourself the aggrevation of dealing with Direct TV. Call Paradise Satellite. (tu)

There's no comparison when it comes to their service. And being treated like a customer is much nice than being only a name on some computer screen in a place far, far away.
