diving conditions

I will be on St Croix next week and I have been following the weather conditions down there and been reading about them here on the forum. There has been a lot of rain it seems as I read. How are the diving conditions (visibility) right now if anyone here has been recently. When there is that much rain does if effect the visibility alot or does it clear up fast? I know there are many other factors involved but wondering if I should expect possibly some bad visibility due to the rain.

Rain stopped Tuesday.
Can't comment on future but visibility usually clears up in a couple days after a massive rain event.

I dove the pier in Fredericksted this afternoon (Tues 5/4), vis was in the 30' range, fuzzy. I'm guessing it'll improve by next week; was still a great dive though.

There are bad dives?

Yes, the rains will lower the viz but maybe from 100' to 50' at the walls. No bad dives on STX.

Thanks so much for the information. Those vizs don't sound bad at all. I can't wait to get there. I can't wait to see the island all green. We were there last May and it was all brown due to the drought. However it was still so beautiful even being all brown.

If the rain doesn't start up again it should clear up in a week.

WOW. Has anyone see the west beaches littered with dead urchins? Went to my fav spot and saw at least four dozen dead in the surf. Assuming its from the rain run off - pesticides and vehicle gunk. Sad.

Gonna go dive the pier tomorrow - hopefully its cleared up. Its been pretty lousy vis this year so far. Years past when I would come from STT to dive it was 60-70ft at least. Lucky to get 40 this year it seems.
