Donating

Did a search of all three boards on this forum and still didn't find the answer I was looking for. Sorry if this is redundant to all of you that are most helpful on this web page.

We will be updating a few things at our condo next month. We will be changing out 2 small electric water heaters to gas, 1 smaller electric range again over to gas (20 inches?) , and getting quotes from green eco friendly A/C companies to replace 4 wall units. All of these appliances were purchased by us a little over 2 years ago new at Home Depot. Don't think that it will be needed but I still do have the receipts in my archives. We would like to donate these items if possible to a needy cause on STT or give them away free for the hauling.

All of these appliances are in working condition but in our quest to reduce our electric costs we have chosen to "upgrade" our place to make it more eco friendly.

Please post if you know of a place that we could donate otherwise PM me if you would like to take any of the items mentioned free for the hauling.

Thanks,

Molly

PS. If there is a general interest in these items I can provide the specs for all of them.

The animal shelter on STX has a place that resells used items, maybe they do the same on STT. Very good cause.

You can also try www.freecycle.com (I know there is a Christiansted site but probably has an STT one as well).

Thanks for your generosity, Molly! I'm doing some checking now, and maybe I can have someone haul them away this week. Most places have storage issues, so it's best to find someone who needs it now. I'll check first with Habitat for Humanity. Will get back to you hopefully later today.

Ms411 Thanks for your help but I won't be back on island until the 17th. The water heaters will be ready then but as I mentioned we will be getting quotes for the air conditioning so not sure when they will be ready.

Molly, what BTUs are the air conditioners? Didn't get a chance to call Habitat yesterday, so hopefully today. Ha, ha! You're one of the few long-term planners - most people wait until the last minute and want it gone like yesterday! This gives me plenty of time to ask around.

The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence of St Thomas/St John (COAST) would gladly use the items while they update their facility.. We, as I am the Vice President, would gladly pick up said items.

Ronnie,

Thanks for the PM, I'll get back to you when I arrive on island.

ms411,

Thanks for looking into things for me but I think that Ronnie will be able to use all of our items for a great organization.
