If you are thinking of moving to the VI, "Don't Stop the Carnival" is on the recommended reading list. Sure it was written about a different, older VI, but many of the events ring true today.

In the "The work calendar has become a very light and unburdensome thing." section: The government "non-essential" employees have been given the following leave: half day Old Year's Day, all day New Year's, Friday, January 2nd and Monday, January 5th (for the inauguration.) Don't try getting any bidness done! 😛

Oh, this is after last week when they had leave 1/2 day Wednesday, all day Thursday and Friday. *-)

Did a job today for the Fire Department. Said the check should be cut before the holidays. Wonder which ones he was talking about. Banking is a brute too!
