environmental orgs?

I'm moving to St Thomas in September and would love to get involved in the community by doing some volunteer work. Specifically, I'd like to work with some environmental/sustainability organizations. From the bit of research I have done, it doesn't look like there is a Surfrider Foundation or a Shoreline Preservation Fund in the islands. If anyone could give me any information on any environmental organizations that I could look into working with, it would be much appreciated. Thank you for your responses and all the other great info this message board has already given me!!
