Where to First?

I have been hired to teach high school English on STT near Red Hook. I live in Washington State. I plan to arrive with just suitcases and have my stuff shipped in drips and drabs later. I don't have a clue as to where to go after the plane lands. Are there any real reasonable temporary lodgings for new comers? I will be asking the school officials for help but there is no guarantee they will have any suggestions other than spend big bucks on a hotel until I can find an apartment. Are there any rooms for rent in homes, maybe?
Is Charlotte Amalie and vicinity the main area for rentals or is there an area on the East end near Red Hook?

I am hoping for a place where new travelers meet, like a hostel. Also the local internet coffee house.
I'm sure many others have asked similar questions on this forum so I apologize for being redundant, but I need any help I can find. I will be arriving about the 10th of August.

Thanks,
Albert

Yes, I have twelve rooms that I rent by the month while you seek out an apartment. The other eleven rooms will have like type folks as well. Lots of new friendships start righ there at Villa Fairview.

Ronnie:
Thank you for your reply. I will be teaching on the East end of the island, Red Hook. Are your apartments centrally located or near a bus route? What range are the rents? I am interested and could send you a deposit or the month's rent. I am a mature person with no excessive habits, good humored and clean.
Thank you

It's a short walk to where you can catch the 'dollar ride' that should get you there in about 40 minutes or so. Rents start at $875. Check out villafairview.com

Thanks
