Does anybody know of any decent extended/long-term stay hotels on St. Croix? Names, please...

Thanks,
Monica

Well, I will be attending UVI as an (older) nursing student in the fall. I am planning to come to St. Croix in June or July, and I would need the extended stay room at that point (note: I am coming with my boyfriend and small dog).

How long? Could be for just a month or two, while looking for permanent housing - or, if we like the place, perhaps we would just stay for the full two years.

Thank you for any assistance you might be able to offer...

Monica

Well the boyfriend is a problem...no.. stop reverse that..the dog, while not a problem does reduce your choices...

Yes.. their are several choices on st Croix. You will want to try to find a long term rental as soon as possible. A short term term "extended stay" place will be from $1200 to $1600 per month. You will be able to find a comfortable apartment ( that will also accept a dog) much cheaper, most without a long term lease.

Ok, so how do I go about finding an apartment? Looking online has added up to ZERO. The only things I can find are tourist-y places at exorbitant prices. The 'cost of living' section of this site says $600 - $800 for a 1 bedroom apartment. That's what we were budgeting for. Is that a fanciful tale? Help!

Hello Monica,

You pretty much need to be on island to find an apartment. That you found ZERO online isn't surprising at all.

The Cost of Living section's apartment costs are from the Settlers Handbook and the new edition just came out November 2004 so its pretty current.

Some of the suggestions I have seen for possiable places to stay for a couple weeks are: Waves at Cane Bay, 340.778-1805 & Cane Bay Reef Club, 340.778-2966.

I wholheartedly agree with Islander that typically you will not find anything online. I must have been lucky b/c we found our apartment on the VISource website. They don't have too many classified ads, but when they do, they can be useful if you are off-island. In fact, I think there is a Caret Bay apt. on their right now!
