Daniel Boone was a man yes a real man with an eye like an eagle and tall as a mountain was he. Davy Crockett king of the last frontier. Great childhood memories for me. LOL. I must be getting old.

an icon gone. but to tell you the truth i didnt know he was still alive.
he sort of fell off the radar.

Is Marshall Matt Dillon alive and well or has he gone on to the Dodge City in the sky. Bet he is finally "with" Ms. Kitty.

The Arness brothers (James Arness - Gunsmoke's Matt Dillon, and Peter Graves - Mission Impossible's Jim Phelps) are originally from Minnesota. James is still alive. Peter died this past week.

If James Arness is not with Miss Kitty, the radio Gunsmoke's Matt Dillon is; he was William Conrad, who had the voice of a Matt but not the 6'7" frame of Arness. I grew up listening to Gunsmoke and other great radio programs and I enjoy listening now to the same programs on OTR (Old time Radio).

BTW, James Arness served with distinction as an infantry soldier in the 3rd Infantry Division in World War II. Fess Parker was a Marine. William Conrad was a fighter pilot. Although John Wayne wore lots of military uniforms, he never served in the Armed Forces.

Alex Chilton passed on too. A very very sad day for rock and roll.
