I have no island marina stories either. But I did sell my boat and my slip in a marina in KY to make this move. So I look forward to stories of marina life here. (Notice how I speak in the present tense?) Hopefully some day I will have another boat and will be able to contribute stories to this thread. Not much better than marina life.

Emy Thomas, the author whose book ,Life in the Left Lane, has been mentioned on here, and is for sale through VI Traders, also wrote Home Is Where the Boat Is. I read it in 1995, as a new cruiser. Fun book, with lots of insights. Does anyone know if Emy Thomas is a pen name? I could swear I have met her, but not by that name.

You are correct poorthang...lots of daring, stupid, crazy and scary, not to mention beautiful. For me, at least, it has to just come to me during a conversation or a relevant thread about somewhere or something. I'll look forward to other posts, and I'm sure I'll get a spark and join in.

Emy Thomas is her real name. She's my neighbor in Salt River, and she has no pseudonyms that I know of.

Her book, Life in the Left Lane, is also the biggest reason we moved here. I read it while on vacation here, and it prompted us to think about living on STX. Until that time, we were not planning to leave our home in NJ.
