Just wondering we found our dream house on the island, problem is we are both American, wife is Canadian and American and since we have lived in canada for thirty years and we don’t have any u.s. credit so we cant even get a small mortgage even if we put a large down payment. They call it the Fannie may the question i am asking is there a private lender that would loan around 50-75 k for a year. Till we establish some credit, and then we could refinance to pay off the loan.

There are lots of credit building credit cards available that establish your credit score. When I moved from Toronto to the VI 15 years ago, I had one from CreditOne or some such thing. It had a small credit limit of $500 and I made sure I paid it off fully every month. Within a year or so, I graduated to a real, normal credit card. We rented down here for a year or so and then were easily able to get a mortgage. Its not hard to establish a credit rating.
