Ok, who has the best beef pate? And where on STT? I know the silver van near the fort has good ones.

We also always stop by the guy in the yellow truck close to the airport. Will do so again tomorrow. Can't wait!

I have heard that the restaurant at the airport (by the entrance to parking next to the taxi building) has really good pate. I keep meaning to stop there. Maybe next time I fly I will try it.

Teresa,

Ashleys is really good!

Patrick,

I am not a pate connoisseur, but I thought Ashleys had a great pate!

I tried the saltfish pate before.... too salty for my taste. I ended up downing a couple of Heinekens in a row just to quench my thirst after that.

Will have to check out Ashleys then.

Ashley's is THE BEST! The conch pate is to die for. I've been chained and padlocked to the island for the last 10 years and rarely get to fly anywhere but on the couple of occasions I've done so or been just picking up or dropping off someone at the airport, I wing into Ashley's and pick up a couple of pates to bring home.

Saltfish is an acquired taste and, as it's name denotes, is salty. It's basically dried and salted lingfish or cod and has to be soaked well before cooking. The longer and better it's soaked the less salty it is. Saltfish pates, saltfish "pick-up" (basically a saltfish hors d'oeuvre served with "pick-up" crackers) are really delicious.

Ashley's also does great goatwater, stew chicken and a bunch of other stuff. Good honest down-to-earth local cooking to warm the heart.

Teresa - next time you leave to come back, bring me a conch pate! Cheers

Is Ahley's an eat-in or take-out spot? We'll be arriving just in time for lunch - so this will be a perfect stop.

I have had the "too salty" and "too dry" saltfish pate'. Best I've found for my taste is on Coki beach - not too salty and lots of spicy peppers to kick it up. Will try the conch at Ashley's, and saltfish too.

There goes the diet!

Hi Bluwater,

Ashleys is an open-air spot (roof, but no walls). You can carry out if you want, but they do have a few tables so it is a very convenient place to grab a quick bite before a flight.

Enjoy :)!
