Does anyone know how I can transport my dog to the mainland? The airlines are unhelpful with their new policies. Thx

Try using the search function and read the many threads on this subject, some as new as last week.

@browny

We used "Dogs Transport off STX" who has a Facebook site - they moved our two dogs off the island to Miami (via PR) and then drove them north. We picked them up at a NJ Tutrnpike reststop. Excellent service.

Hello All

Has anyone booked their dog on Amerijet directly instead of using a broker?

Curious as to the experience. I'm on Tortola and they do come here on Tuesdays and Thursdays

You might want to check with your local Animal Shelter for guidance and recommendations as they often send shelter animals stateside for adoption. I think they would have good and updated information regarding your options.

I used to travel back and forth, annually, between Orlando and STT with my 65 lb. pup on American Airlines on same flt. for $400 RT. That went out the window last March 2020 when they imposed a pet travel ban for pets having to fly cargo on passenger flights.

I believe many of the Rescue Organizations now have to use American or Delta Cargo.

Good luck and let us know how it goes along with associated costs.

@alana33  Thank you Alana. The shelter in Tortola no longer sends animals out, to my knowledge. Unless they are puppies that can travel in the cabin. From my understanding even that is on hold. Shipping adult dogs is not possible from Tortola.  I happened to find out by chance that Amerijet will ship my girl from Tortola to Miami or New Jersey. Amerijet says shipping live animals is their bread and butter but it's our first time and I'm past paranoia.

Both STT and STX organizations are sending larger pets stateside for adoption and placement. STJ too, for that matter.

Maybe check Humane Society of STT, Pet with Wings program on STT. Ask for Reah 340-775-0599.

On STX, you can possibly get info from Katie Nelson who has Ruff Start, a rescue organization that does amazing work.

Also St. Croix Animal Welfare Center Shelter Operations:
340-778-1650

All these rescue organizations so do amazing work.

They get no government funding.

If you can donate money, pet food, dog crates, cleaning supplies, toys, towels, volunteer, foster, help walk, socialize, please do!
