Where can I find some good fried chicken on this island? No, not KFC...icky! I haven't heard very much about Chester Fried. Wish I could send someone to Popeye's!

Chester is overly salty for my taste but Lake's in Smith Bay is very good!

I agree, Lake's would be the 1st place to go for fried chicken.
Chesters' 2nd place.

Where is Lake's? I don't remember seeing it when passing through Smith Bay. I need to run over to Tutu anyway.

I don't like Lake's. I like the wings at breakfast at Al's Cafe on the Waterfront. Next are the wings at Coki at the restaurant. They cook them when you order so they're nice and hot. I like mine with thick coating - not the thin dusting of flour some use.

The chicken kabob at Chester's is very good if you get there when they're fresh. I like my chicken on the salty side. Popeye's chicken is salty and crunchy, and I used to like them, too.

Not STT but Vie's garlic chicken on the east end of STJ is tied for first place as best chicken I've ever had! Plus best Johnnycake and coconut tart, hands down.

Chester's is great. You can find it at Bonjour in Tutu.

Funny you should mention Bounjour in Tutu, Ronnie. I was just getting the car serviced at Western Auto at lunch time and walked over to Bounjour. Got there just as they were taking the chicken out of the fryer! It was pretty good, and what a value! $7.49 for TWO chicken breasts, potato wedges and a soda.

We go to St John all the time (we aim for once every week!) so I will have a good excuse to hang out at either Haulover or Brown Bay for the day...for the chicken at Vie's!

I miss Popeye's mashed potatoes and gravy, too.

Chester's has mash and gravy for $1. Sometimes I just get those when I'm craving Carbs. Not as good as Popeye's but good enough. Lots of black pepper. Sometimes I just order 4 of those!

Chester's is a franchised joint. Some stand alone, some sold at convenience stores. They don't all have the mashed potatoes, they do have the fried chicken. Wedges are offered at Bonjour, don't know what all the other's offer. Which are you referring to Ms411?
